McFrankel
Crack open one of my dark ale brews today and used to make a chocolate cake. Got the recipe from the Coopers Website. Used my dark ale instead of the stout. Family loved it [biggrin]
Muddy Waters
I was curious and went searching for the recipe (even though I've never made a cake [biggrin] ).Here is the original recipe for anyone who is interested: Classic Coopers Chocolate Cake INGREDIENTS... 110g Butter or Margarine 250g Dark Brown sugar 2 Eggs, well beaten 175g Plain Flour Pinch of Baking Powder 1 Level tablespoon Baking Soda 200ml Coopers Best Extra Stout 55g Cocoa Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda three times and leave to one side. Cream margarine and sugar, add eggs gradually and mix well. Mix the cocoa and Coopers Stout together in a large bowl (this will foam up), then add this to the creamed mix- ture, alternating with the sifted flour. Pour into a fully lined cake tin and bake in a moderate oven for 45 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean. When cooled, deco- rate with sweetened cream and shaved dark chocolate as a desert or serve plain with a dusting of icing sugar to go with coffee.
