CDZ
Hello, I have a Coopers kit and used the lager, sugar and yeast supplied. I've been trying to read all I can to not ask what's been asked many times before but am just having some trouble - let me give you an overview: day 1 - pitched yeast - (forgot to take hydrometer reading) day 2 - fermentation underway, slow but steady day 7 - took a hydrometer reading - 1014 day 8 - took a hydrometer reading - 1014 (still too high, right?) day 12 - still at 1014 but there's very little foam Is it safe to prime/bottle? I'm a bit worried the FG is just still to high as the instructions say 1008-1010 with the supplied brewing sugar. The temp has been 19-22C during this process, lid and airlock on. Thanks for any advice, I really appreciate it. Curt
The Brew Master
Welcome to the forum CDZ. Have you checked your Hydrometer in water @ 20 deg C? It should read 1000. Also make sure you do not have bubbles on hydrometer when reading. Another thing is that sediment may have accumulated in the tap, I drink about the first 100 ml or so then take my sample. Cheers, Peter
PB2
Assuming your hydro reading is accurate, 1014 is a bit high for FG. Not an issue if you plan to bottleinto the PETs supplied. [cool]
CDZ
Thank you both for the replies, I took another sample but got as many bubbles out of the way as I could and sure enough, it dropped a little more to get me to 1010. I did double check in plain water and it sat right at 1000. Thanks again!
Andris
Waiting few days and checking again wont hurt it either, but 1.010 is more like it!
