WeirdBeer
I want to try making the Coopers IPA but I don't need 23 L of it because noone will drink it but me. How about just using the kit can with half the recommended water? No extra fermentables. How would that turn out? Can anyone suggest a good Hop to add to this recipe? It is an IPA after all. . . . Muddy Waters
Wouldn't you be better off doing a full batch as they'll age nicely if it is only you drinking them? Sorry mate I haven't any experience with 1/2 batches but I can recommend Motueka as a great hop for IPA (You could do mini batch of PB2's Moteueka Slam IPA. Greg
half the water (11 litres) and you will have a very bitter drink, almost undrinkable i reckon. By my calculations you will have approx 82 IBUs. I would make 23 litres and cellar it as it will improve alot with age, particularly if it is only you drinking them. Robbo
My favourite style of beer is a proper IPA and I found the recipe below even impressed many XXXX drinkers (which is amazing). Also IPA style beers are designed to improve with age which is exactly what is happening with mine. Just a shame it doesn't last too long. Here is my take on the Coopers authentic IPA recipe. Ingredients • 1.7kg Thomas Coopers IPA • 500g Light Dry Malt • 1kg Coopers Brewing Sugar • Yeast supplied with kit Made to 23l. Yeast pitched at 26deg An easy recipe that produces a beer that is certainly worth cellaring.
Andris
I would go with full batch as well, especially if youre only one drinking it - imagine, all this hoppy goodness and only you appreciate it...
zyx345
I have the IPA kit which I'm going to brew next. My plan is to do the Authentic/Strong IPA recipie. If you did this method, this should get you around 20L. http://www.coopers.com.au/the-brewers-guild/how-to-brew/strong/authentic-ipa
