Ajay KumarD Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 having got off 1st time using the standard method and the brew kit that i got from Coopers' store yesterday. but for the next batch i am thinking of using two 1.7 Kg Pale Ale kits and nothing else. with the bundled in yeast pack and 20 liters of water. does that sound all right?
Slurtis Staggersalot Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Sounds like fun! I think you might want some simple sugar in there too, maybe 300g or a little less. I'm not really the best guy to answer your question though because I've never made a toucan batch. I do have two cans of Thomas Coopers brew master series IPA that I was considering making a toucan with, because I've never read a thread that talked about that particular recipe [happy]
MatR1 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Should be ok. Will be quite malty. Make sure you use both yeasts or even better create yourself a nice starter from a bottle of pale ale.
Ajay KumarD Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 thanks for the responses. appreciate it.
Martyn Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Ajay, was thinking of the same thing for my next recipe, let me know how it goes. Might even use some re-cultured pale ale yeast if I'm feeling adventurous![bandit] Cheers, Martyn.
PB2 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Ajay, for people who can get the Australian Pale Ale but the BE2 is not available, we suggest 2 cans of Australian Pale Ale made to 25 litres, use both yeast sachets and no other sugars.
Ajay KumarD Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks again for more inputs. Sounds like next batch won't be too off-track. will update with results.
Martyn Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 What does that come out like in the end Paul? Whats it similar to? Martyn.
PB2 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Close to our commercial pale ale with slightly more colour and bitterness.
