LucasM
What aroma hops (15 min boil) and finishing hops (2 min boil) match up well with the Coopers Real Ale kit? I am putting 1.5kg of pale liquid malt and 1 kg of dextrose with it and using the T-58 yeast. I want to enhance the great flavour it already has. I don't want to change it to new flavour. PB2
All kinds of hops work well with this brew. Have you used T-58 before? [surprised
LucasM
Thanks for the hop advice. I'll just put golding then and see how it works. When I first used T-58 I thought there was something wrong with the beer. SO I used it again and it tasted the same. I was sure the beer was infected. Anyway after a couple of months I tried them again and they were gone fast. I got used to that spicy, peppery flavour of the T-58. Now, I use it regularly. I used it with the Thomas Cooper Sparkling Ale with 1.5kg Coopers liquid wheat malt. I am using it with the original coopers kits dark ale and the lager and 1 kg of dextrose. Apparently it frements up to 11.5% alchohol. I have made it with the English Bitter as well with 1.5kg of the Thomas Cooper liquid amber malt. All flavoursome beers that really grew on me. Will Coopers ever make a commercial Belgian style ale?
PB2
Yep, for many who taste a beer made with T-58, their first comment, "is this infected?" [surprised Can't imagine that we will do a Belgian in the near future. [sad]
