help me thumbs up or down with my brews ??

HI I have just joined and need a little help here..

I have started 2 brews on 25 feb and it is now 5 mar 2010 .

Please note...

Both of these cans were past use by date by 2 years.

The first brew a baverian lager frothing on top of brew sweet to smell and taste , hydrometer reading 1030 yes.. tempeture 22c.

The other a pale ale is crusted on top of the wort ,hydrometer reading is 1020 yes at tempeture 22c.

Both of the brews havn't showed any activity at all (bubbling).

I started both brews with Disolving the mix in 1 ltre of hot water and 21ltres cold with (1kg dextrose used with thr pale ale)

1kg of suger was used with the bavarian lager)..

Do you think The brews can be made and improved ?

One more note This was my first and so I didn't give the hydrometer test before pitching the yeast.
