i just put this one down today! what do you guys think?

 

1.7 kg O.S. stout

500g LDM

500g dex

480g malto-dex (liquid)

5ml liquid smoke (hickory)

14g cooper's yeast sprinkled dry pitched @ 20C

21L water

O.G. 1.052

Looks like an interesting recipe to me, I'm interested in what the liquid smoke is. Your pitch is a little on the low side as far as temp goes but I think the extra 7g of yeast should take care of that easily.

 

I think we should have a tasting session in a couple of months, I'll bring some of the Canadian honey blonde I made today out for dessert[happy]

hey all,

 

i tried one of these smokey stouts last night. it's showing some real promise. the smoke flavour is a background note at the tail end of the profile. alot less pronounced than i would have thought. this is a good thing![cool] the smoke aroma is also only slight and pleasant.[joyful]

 

hey slurtis,

 

this is only a guess but i would say the liquid smoke is probably similar to bong water. of course it would be with hickory chips and not the usual stuff.[bandit]
