Martyn
The Unreal Ale recipe in the how to brew section is an absolute stunner. So going off what Paul said about this section being a resource for recipes, I'm no teachers pet[rightful] so I thought I'd add my recipe. I haven't brewed it for about a year but was always going to try it again but with my own twist. My recipe was- Original Series Real Ale, 1kg BE#1, 500g Light Dry Malt, 10g Cluster hops@60min boil (leftovers form the Steam Beer recipe), 150g Malted Barley crushed and steep for 30mins with the hops/malt mix, then strained into the fermenter. 10g Cluster hops dry hopped after 4 days. OG-1044 FG-1013. ABV 4.6%. First taste after 2 weeks in the bottle was amazing. Fine bubbles, beautiful dark colour, good head retention, the malted barley adds to the head colour and overall flavour. Will be leaving this in the bottle as long as possible (probably autumn/winter) before trying it again. Cheers, Martyn.
Trusty1
I have made a few 'unreal Ale' type brews and have found them all good. Might get me some Nelson Sauvin hops and add to my next attempt at the type.
Martyn
Trusty, funny you should mention the Nelson Sauvin hops. Have just put down today a Real Ale toucan with 500g Kangaroo Island honey, 100g malted barley crushed and steeped with 15g@15min boil Nelson Sauvin hops with 10g to be dry hopped at day 4. Again, another brew for the winter months. Cheers, Martyn.
