When filling your ice chest with ice drop in some rock salt, its something to do with a reaction but the beers are colder thats all i care about. Just wash the salt off your can or bottle and enjoy. It also increases the boiling point, so apart from the taste perspective, the water gets hotter and cooks vegetables (or whatever you're cooking) quicker.
