scottb12
Hi fellow brewers, I'm keen on making a Smoty Ale but instead of using East Kent golding pellets I thought I'd try Cascade. Has anyone tried this? Cheers
LeonardC2
I keep wondering that, since it's called "smotty" ale,if it's some kind of clone of the Smuttynose IPA? Or maybe their Old Brown Dog ale? Personally,I think Rogue's Dead Guy ale is better ten the old brown dog, both brown ales. But the Smuttynose IPA absolutely reaks of grapefruit with lemon zest-like flavor under that. Like Cascade & citra, maybe. No malt flavor at all...

SMOTY = Second (or Shortest) Month Of The Year The E.K. Goldings really suits the maltiness of this beer, I would imagine Cascade would be ok, too, just give you a very different beer
