Addictions

Damn, I went to the brew shop yesterday after work and instead of just buying what i need (hops, dark malt or choc malt) I spent R1500 and came back with enough stuff to make 130 l. And i already had plenty at home. The only limit to buying was the size of the bag I took to strap onto my bike. I buy the stuff faster than i can drink it or brew it. The addiction is brewing, not drinking. Plenty of beer bottled and no real desire to drink more than 2 or 3 bottles per day.

Like if I go to a bike shop for synthetic oil, or chain lube or something I will walk out with another jacket, gloves, farkles etc and a big dent in te bank account. or get ideas of why I need another bike. Like a kid in a candy store or a woman in a shoe shop.

Brew shops, Bike shops and hardware shops are like whorehouses: you can't walk out without spending lots of money and buying far more than you went for.

I find you don't even have to physically enter a brew shop either. The online ones do it for me too.

Thankfully I have no problem with that. No temptation on a screen. It is the temptation of seeing it in front of my eyes . Probably explains why I don't like internet porn either lol.

At least physically going there I'm limited by what i can carry home. And that is quite a bit. You should see the stuff Ive bought and brought home on a bike: chain saw, ice machine, set of bike tyres, pool creepy crawly kit and hoses, TV set, box of 30 bottles...

I think its best you stay out of cars mate....w00t

Ive got a big 4x4 that will carry anything. But my agitation frustration and road rage when cooped up in a metal cage, like a monkey, exceeds my desire to buy more toys...so it barely gets used.

I so understand when you say, "The addiction is brewing, not drinking".

I'm very new to home brewing, just bottled my 6th brew, but are totally addicted.

Now have enough gear stashed away for my next 7 brews. Must stop buying!
