Hairy
I wouldn't bother with the dry hop and just leave it with the steep. It won't hurt the beer so you can do it if you want. But I think the aroma from 25g EKG may get overpowered by the rest of the beer. It isn't a punchy dry hop.
Dirtynidge
Will do, thanks Hairy. The smells coming out of the airlock are phenomenal, the rasin smell (from the special B?) is very noticeable.
Dirtynidge
First taste of this after only a week in the bottle (too impatient I know): Superb, this is already a very tasty ESB. The Special B is very noticeable but not overpowering. I haven't had a 4 Pines ESB since Christmas but this is certainly along the same lines. A huge leap from my first two K & K brews, thanks to all for the advice, particularly Hairy and Otto.
Dirtynidge1
Sorry to be a threat necro but 2.5 years and 50 AG brews later and I still haven't made an ESB I prefer to this kit version. A question for Hairy specifically as I know he has an AG ESB recipe which he based his advice for the above recipe on. I am really hoping he will share the AG recipe with me, pretty please??! I will dig it up and post it. It is a Frankenstein ESB but it is really tasty.

Hairy
Here is my last version of it. I sometimes play around with the hops and use EKG and Fuggles. 4kg Maris Otter 650g Munich I 200g Special B 150g Caraaroma 50g Chocolate malt 15g Target @ 60 minutes 15g Challenger @ 10 minutes 25g Challenger @ 0 minutes 10g Styrian Golding @ 0 minutes 5g Target @ 0 minutes 23 litres Wyeast 1469 West Yorkshire Ale OG 1052 IBU 38 (no chill adjusted) You will need to play around with it based on your system. I hope you enjoy it.
Dirtynidge1
Great thanks very much for that. Quick question as a fellow No Chiller; do the 0mins hops go in the NC cube or are they whirlpooled in the kettle?
Hairy
Just before I Whirlpool. Probably the equivalent of a 20-25 minute hop stand.

Dirtynidge1
Can I ask what starting gravity you aim for?
Hairy
Pre boil gravity? Original gravity for fermentation is 1052. Final gravity would be around 1013.
