ABV

Recommended Posts

What would be the ABV of a Coopers APA fermented in 23ltrs, but without the addition of any other fermentables except the teaspoon of sugar when bottling?

I had a great program that did all the calculations, you just needed to enter the ingredients you were using, I cant seem to find it anymore.

Cheers, Nick

At a guess I'd say somewhere around 2.5% but someone with Ianh's spreadsheet should have an accurate answer.

It shows it 2.2% kegged, 2.6% bottle primed.

Just curious Nick, are you interested in making a low ABV brew? If so, you might consider doing a small partial mash with 200gm or so of Vienna, or 150gm of light Munich, to up the maltiness; these grains have enough enzymes to be self-mashing, at the right temp. They won't add much to the ABV, but it should help make it more flavourful. Are you going to dry hop it? Some Cascade hops would be nice. You might want to increase the IBUs a tiny bit too, by boiling 10gm or so of hops in your partial mash wort for 20-30 minutes. Cheers. -Christina.
