peekaboo_jones
Hello, So I'm getting back into doing some split batches. This time using up an OS Real Ale can I've had lying around for a while, still in date though. Looking for roughly 4% malty hoppy English ale. 13L total batch size 1/2 can Coopers Real Ale 500g dry malt extract 300g caramalt cold steeped 20g Fuggle @ 2 mins then mixed straight into fermenter. Windsor yeast 20g Fuggle dry hop Other half of can, same as above but with a 50/50 blend of Galaxy and Fuggle hops. As the Windsor yeast finishes a bit higher G this should work ok. Would these steeping grains/amounts work ok? I'm happy with caramel flavours as long as it doesn't end up too burnt/roasty. I also have some victory malt too. What do you think? Cheers PJ
Otto Von Blotto
You won't get burnt/roasty flavours from Caramalt however that is a heck of a lot to be using in a 13 litre batch. I'd dial it back by about half if it was me, especially using Windsor yeast.
