Andrew61
Hi guys So I want to take advantage of the winter temps to get some lagers down. But I'm only going to be home for a week next month then away for another 2.5 month stint then home for another week or two before disappearing for another few months and not returning until spring. Would a beer keep that long in the fv or will it end up oxidizing and going bad if I leave it that long (2.5 months that is). Cheers Andrew
Otto Von Blotto
It *should* be ok if you drop it to lagering temperatures before you leave, and everything is cleaned and sanitised properly. When I used to do that old fashioned drawn out method they would stay in primary for about 8 weeks, which isn't far off 2.5 months, and I never had any problems. My next batch I'm trying out the 4 week lager method which I have only heard good things about. Looking forward to it.
