keg042
Hello wise sages. Yet again, dithering about in something I don't know enough about, but having a crack anyway! I was interested to see what the wiser and more experienced brewers out there thought of using a munich or belle saison yeast in my choc-caramel stout I am about to put on? Do you think it would add much or should I just stick to the Coopers yeast which came with the extract (the Thomas Coopers Irish Stout) and throw in an extra pack for good measure. Thoughts anyone? Cheers.
ben 10
Don't let Belle anywhere near this brew, you will not get a stout. Munich I know nowt about but recently used Mangrove Jacks British Ale in a porter and it is AMAZING,,,

Hairy
Most British yeasts are good and you can even use neutral yeast like US-05. There are also many stouts using Belgian yeasts, although I don't think they are Saison yeasts. I have a stout fermenting at the moment using Nottingham yeast. It is a 23 litre batch and it climbed out of my 30 litre fermenter. I had a bit of cleaning up to do

Canadian Eh!L
Hey there Don't forget to consider liquid yeast the Irish strains Wyeast 1084 and White Labs 004. They are both very good choices and if you are looking for a dry stout then you should look no further
