More body in beer

Hi!

I would have reduced the volume in the fermenter to 18L, but then I saw the stouter stout was an 18L brew!

I would use 2 cans of stout + 1 kg light dry malt & both yeast packs (and keep it at 18L). Fuggles hops if you wish, (15min boil in 2L water with a little bit of malt) about 15g.

Cheers,

Luke.

2 cans of stout in 18litres will make for a very bitter brew.

Perhaps, on the path to Lukes suggestion, try a a can of Stout and a can of Pale Ale (less bitterness and contains some malted wheat) together and ferment to 18litres using both sachets of yeast.

Here is my regular stout recipe which gives plenty of favour and substance:

1 x can Coopers original Stout

1 x can Coopers original Dark Ale

100 - 200 gm lactose

200 gm dextrose (to give the yeast something to easily start on)

both packs yeasts.

It will rock and roll in the fermenter but I am yet to have it come up through the airlock.

I try and keep the temp at mid to lower range of the 20's and if necessary let it ferment for a few extra days (maybe 10-12 days in total)

I have never tested for the %alc but I expect in would be in the high 5% range.

I keg my beers and this brew pours with a great foam/head.

A nice drink as a night cap along with a good Belgum chocolate.

I recommend you give it a go.

Cheers

Peter
