Stinger1525228935
Hi all, I am thinking of brewing the Czech Pils recipe again. I really enjoyed it the first time around, but this time I thought I might change things up a little. I was wondering what you more experienced guys would think about doing a 30 minute steep at 65-70 degrees of 250grams of CaraPils grain (followed by a short 10 minute boil) in addition to to the original recipe? Im aiming for improved mouthfeel and a creamy white head that will stick around a while, as per style guidelines. From the little bit of reading I have done, I personally think that perhaps 250grams is a little bit excessive, and maybe 100 would be more appropriate, however, given that the CaraPils grain has little influence on colour and taste, maybe it would be ok to bump it up? I'm only learning, so be gentle haha! Made to 20 litres; recipe ingredients are below: 1.7kg Thomas Coopers Pilsener 1.0kg Coopers Light Dry Malt (2x 500g) 0.25kg CaraPils 25g Saaz hop pellets W-34/70 yeast starter Thanks lads! Hairy
I have used 250g Carapils in a Czech Pilsner and it was fine. Go for it.
