Hi Guys,

I've had some home brewers suggest "waking up" the dry yeast by adding it to some warm water and then adding it to the brew. What is the consensus on this method and does it work or is it harmful to the yeast?

Cheers.

G'day keg042, Welcome to the forum, have a look at stir or sprinkle? wink

G'day Keg. I used to have a body of that shape too, but then I discovered transgender surgery (but I digress)

The magnificently MadMan is right. However, I just get the feeling perhaps you might be referring to rehydrating the yeast (or possibly stepping it up). If, by some chance, it's the 1% of the time I may be right, it may be worthwhile searching in the forum for the term "rehydrate". I'm a fan, but others may not be.

All the best with losing your keg-shape, and I can recommend a Thai hospital if you're interested. ;)

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll give rehydrating the yeast a go.

+1 that idea!

An insulated coffee mug works well for this. Don't forget to sanitize it.

Better late than never I guess. Lol

Ha-ha! I never noticed the date on this! lol

Do you hold seances regularly in your neck of the woods Christina? tongue
