Hi Guys, pleased to report my last brew of European Lager is bottled, smelled great and although no perfect finished on a FG of 1009, smells great and tastes great, 3 months in the bottle for this one :-D

So my reason for this post is to try to get better each time, today's brew consists of the products in the photo, 1kg of Dextrose and Cooper Lager (normal lager) I had a SG of 1041 (still learning this hydrometer lol) instructions on this one say 21 degrees Celsius-27, and to add the yeast at 18-32, yeast added at 27 and a second pack of lager yeast was used as you can see in the photo, so what do you guys think?

Hi Venom.

I wouldn't use the extra lager yeast for this brew. My advice would be to use only the yeast that comes with the Coopers Lager kit tin (it's an Ale yeast), & ferment the brew at approx. 18 - 22°C.

Save the additional lager yeast packet for another brew, & begin to look at replacing a large portion (approx. 75%) of the dextrose you are currently using, with some LDM (Light Dry Malt extract) in your future brews.

Cheers,

Anthony.

+1 for the DME.

A box of coopers BE2 will serve you better than Dextrose on its own anyday.

That hop tablet thing looks a bit scary. How much did that cost? Do you have a well stocked LHBS neaby?

If not http://www.hopdealzaustralia.com/#!110g-dealz/c1ihg does very good prices on hops for more flavour and aroma.

Goodluck and keep brewing.

Have you got reasonably accurate measuring scales? Would like to know if the Carbo Drops, shown in your OP image, actually has 60 drops in the bag and what is the total weight.

edit: Perhaps I should qualify why I'm interested in their weight - they look to be a different shape to Coopers Carbo Drops, which usually contain just over 80 carbo drops per 250g pack as the good-uns in the pack weigh 3.0g to 3.3g. However, our old packaging stated, "min of 60 servings per pack", leaving many brewers too believe only 60 carbo drops in a pack with a weight of 250g means the drops weigh 4g each. pinched

so there is around 65 in each bag, they give you enough to do 30 700ml bottles and a couple extras, I don't have any scales so I can't tell you sorry.
