adamwaring
I've got a Coopers 'Real Ale' kit – but there was no sachet of yeast under the plastic lid. Will I be okay to use a regular sachet of yeast? (I've got Young's Ale Yeast 5g.) It's just that Coopers seem to make a big thing about their own specially developed yeasts... Hey Adam Welcome to the forum Many brewers here use non Coopers yeast. In fact someone near you might even have a spare Coopers yeast packet. The only problem with the Young's Ale yeast that I can see would be under pitching, 5g doesn't seem a lot. 10g would be OK if you have two packets. You could always grab another can from the shop, say Coopers draught, use that yeast in the Real Ale and then go to a local homebrew shop and grab some US05 for the Draught kit. adamwaring
Thanks for the advice! The yeast pack does claim to be 'sufficient for 23 litres (5 gallons)' but I had noticed that other yeast packs in kits I've had have been bigger than 5g... Chezza
Biggest mistake i ever done was changing out the coopers yeast to a Brigalow pack to try in a canadian blonde batch, makes me feel sick thinking about it
