Beerlust
I have never really looked into to recommended usage. I just pointed out that if you need to add 400-500g minimum then it may not be appropriate for all styles of red beer. Well said' date=' & I concur. Tanman20
Well I\u2019m about to put down my version of this for a second time. I must say my first attempt at this was a fantastic beer and I\u2019m not going to make any changes. It was as follows (BIAB): ALE 4.3 Munich .5 Crystal .6 Wheat .5 25 Citra planning @60 10 Citra @10 7 Amarillo @10 7 Cascade @10 10 Citra @0 7 Amarillo @0 7 Cascade @0 With 1056 Wyeast Any advice on how to convert this to an extract recipe? 2 x 1.5kg tins light LME gets me to the right ABV but I'm stuck on the specialty grains Many Thanks Ben
Beerlust
Hi Tanman20. Grain to Liquid Malt Extract multiply by .75 Grain to Dry Malt Extract multiply by .67 I hope that helps. Lusty.
Hairy
The specialty malts are done 1:1. The only specialty malt in the recipe you referenced is 600g crystal. It seems like a fair whack of crystal though.

It seems like a fair whack of crystal though. Given the total grist is close to 6kgs' date=' I don't see 10% crystal as being excessive. Well I'm about to put down my version of this for a second time. I must say my first attempt at this was a fantastic beer and I'm not going to make any changes. It didn't seem to bother AnthonyC. Anthony C
Hey All, The Grain arrived yesterday for another AG BIAB and it will be the 8th time I've done this brew without variation other than the Yeast. The first time I put the recipe together it was a bit of a trial but turns out it is a beer that I really enjoy and suits my taste. I did however notice that the 4 pines site recipe (from the link on the first page) has changed from when I last looked and specifies Simcoe for the bittering so I may give that a go next time. Cheers

Anthony C
Hi Anthony C. Speaketh his name & he shall appear! Longtime no see Anthony C! Glad to hear you're still brewing that recipe & still enjoying it! Cheers' date=' Lusty.[/quote'] G'day Lusty, I have a look most days and enjoy reading the differing methods brewers use to produce different beers. As I mentioned I have found a beer that I enjoy and haven't moved from it in my BIAB beers. I do still change up my keg fillers which are generally CPA with what ever hop I think will work. On the previous suggestions for this beer in extract form, I'm keen to build one in for the next keg filler.

Are these dry hopped or added at flame out and steeped for 30mins? Cheers, Tony
Popo the Reprobate
They'd be flameout additions.
AnthonyD11
Hi All, I've been thinking about popping a 4 Pines clone down for a while now and wanted to get some comments on my planned recipe. Haven't had much BIAB experience but thought this bear is too tasty not to try and recreate so here's my recipe: Ale Malt 4.5kg Wheat Malt 0.5kg Munich 1 0.5kg Medium Crystal 0.5kg Simcoe 10g FWH Citra 15g & Amarillo 10g @ 15 minutes Cascade 20g @ 0 minutes Using a 27L final volume this gets me to the estimated values below which i was roughly trying to hit. IBU 36.7 EBC 20.9 OG 1.051 Any comments or tips would be appreciated
