Robbo
Hi all, It has been a while since I posted and I just thought I'd share an experiment that I've conducted over the last couple of months. Both are pretty basic recipies but I would appreciate the input, suggestions or general thoughts of the brewers here in the forum. The first brew recipe was as follows: 1 can Canadian Blonde 1kg LDME yeast as supplied in can made to 23l 30gms Cascade hops dry hopped after 3 days It has been in the bottle now for over a month and I have to say, this is a fantastic drop. It is a bit reminiscient of a lighter version of Fat Yak (due largely to the late hop addition). Will make an excellent quaffing beer for summer time. My next brew was a bit more controversial. 1 can Canadian Blonde 1kg LDME yeast as supplied in can made to 23l 24gms Fuggles hops dry hopped after 3 days Fuggles you say??? I've had this in the bottle a wee while and it is actually tasting quite good. I have had brewer mates saying that Fuggles only works with a heavy textured beers but I think I have hit on something. It has a strong nutty, woodland, almost musty flavour, something to be expected from the Fuggles. It is a flavour that doesn't align with the lighter colour and texture of the blonde... but I think I like it. I reckon this could make a good camping beer, open fire, good mates talking crap and a couple glasses of 'Fuggle Blonde'.

[/quote'] I think your beer "Fuggle Blonde" is as rare as a Blonde that doesn't spend much money. I don't mind a Blonde, and I might give yours a try. Also if you don’t mind I’ll share my latest Blonde which I call "Bushy Park Blonde", its had a few iterations but this one is a "Blonde Bombshell", mine is an Australian Blonde (we all now they are easier on the eye than the Canadian version). Bushy Park Blonde Ale Coopers Draught 500g Light Dry Malt 200g Dextrose 300g Carapils 100g Crystal 120 50 g Southern Hallertau (from Bushy Park); 12g @ 8mins, 12g @ 5mins and 26g steeped for 30mins. It is now 3 months old and tastes great.

Canadian Eh!L
Hey Robbo, I've made a few Canadian Blondes with late cascade additions. It really makes a nice drop. I havn't had one for a while now, though. Hey, I was wondering how your Mead attempt went from a year or so ago? Any good?
Hairy
I never really got into the Canadian Blonde kit (1 attempt with average success). I may have to revisit it. Also if you don’t mind I’ll share my latest Blonde which I call "Bushy Park Blonde" Not to be confused with the Bushy Blonde which was quite popular in the 70's [innocent]
