Snags
Hey mate. What do you add at the moment apart from the can? What sugars (dextrose/brewing sugar/ brew enhancer/light Dry Malt etc???) do you use? Cheers.
CraigsALE
Which Kit. I try to add malt it helps with the alcohol percentages. But seriously I commonly use what is easiest. 1 Kit and 1 x 1.5 KG of Liquid malt extract. Coopers of course. Steep a 150 grams of Crystal malt in a few liters of close to boiling water for 20 to 30 mins and pour in fermenter. Throw in some hops. 20 Gram of Nelson Sauvin or Amarillo or Cascade all go well with most Ale kits. Use a good yeast like one you culture from the coopers green or red bottles. If that seems a bit hard i just use Safale U.S. 05 dry yeast.
*****
Hey Steve As a beginner I have learnt there a lots of variations avaialbale with the Cooper's kits. But there are only so many days in a week and possibly only 1 FV so the decision becomes difficult. Have a look at the Parity Amber Ale in the how to brew section. It looks liek a nice place to start, and very similar to a lot of others. From what I can gather the OD Draught kit and the IS Pale Ale kits are good base kits. I have made this and can attest it is a very good drop. I used a Liquid German lager yeast though.
