Hi Guys,

I'm looking at putting something like the following down.

As this is my first time doing a recipe I've patched together myself I wanted to make sure it looked ok and doesn't have any glaring problems.

Any feedback / suggestions would be appreciated.

23L

2.0 KG - LDME

500 G - CaraMunich 2

100 G - Carafa 3

250 G - Dextrose

45 G - EK Golding @ 60m

30 G - Cascade @ 5m

Nottingham Yeast

The recipe looks ok. However, it should give about 28 IBU which is probably a bit low for me as I personally like 30-40 IBUs.

The ABV% is a bit low for me too. This recipe will give you about 4.3% in the bottle. Personally I'd stick in another 500g LDME, which will bring the ABV% up to 5.1% and it will be similar to a Schwarzbier style if you wanted to Lager with W34/70 or similar and ferment at 14C.

OG 1.041

FG 1.010

if you add the extra LDME as I suggest then you will be looking at:

OG 1.049

FG 1.012

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the tips.

How are you working out OG & FG?

I was using the Kit & Extract Beer Designer spreadsheet from aussiehomebrewer and came up with:

OG 1.044

FG 1.009

So I was expecting about ABV% 5% in the bottle.
