CraigsALE
I was thinking of putting this down but don't like to use dextrose if I can help it. Especially a whole Kilo of it. http://www.coopers.com.au/the-brewers-guild/how-to-brew/strong/extra-strong-vintage-ale Has anyone made it with all Malt say LDME, LME or Extra pale Liquid. Any other variations in the hops you found gave a good finish. Thanks
TonyW
I just did one as written with the dextrose on and its very very nice as is even when its green. Cant wait to try a few more bottles
NewtownClown
Stick with the recipe. It is a cracker. As is. I would hesitate subbing the Dex with Extract, you will end up with a slightly sweeter beer. This recipe is balanced very well. Make it as is then maybe tweak it next time. IF I was to sub Extract for Dex, I would want to add some bittering hops to balance... This is one kit recipe that I personally stick to as is, especially the 2010 version with Nelson sauvin
Muddy Waters
Dextrose gets a bad rap but used appropriately it is a very useful ingredient. Don't go hating the dex [cool] I agree with the clown - stick with the recipe [rightful]
