ColinV
So I have moved and had to buy my self a new home brewing set up so I picked up the Coopers DIY kit. Plan is to use it with either a Dark malt extract or a Amber malt extract. It's starting to warm up here so I might add a Ale yeast and brew it at as low a temp as I can I might not be able to larger it at a low temp either. either way I'm excited to see how it turns out. Guest
As Tony said... it has an Ale yeast in the kit and I'd brew it at 18C. Welcome to the forum Colin

ColinV
Yea I have a packet of Lager yeast in a box here some where I'll just use that and then maybe use the ale yeast as a feeder or keep it for another time. Average days here at the moment are 20C so I'm hoping to get brew temps between 16-17c *fingers crossed*

The one that came with mine is in primary right now with a belgian wit yeast (WLP400). :) I don't really like lagers for the most part so I figured I'd have a little fun with it. A Lager is a Lager when brewed correctly with Lager Yeast. The kit comes with an Ale yeast. Therefore, the kit is not true to a Lager beer if brewed with the yeast that comes with it. JoelC3
I stand corrected.

Therefore, the kit is not true to a Lager beer if brewed with the yeast that comes with it. It's a LINO! (Lager In Name Only) Of course, if brewed with the kit yeast and brew extract it's technically a Pale Ale.
