PaulM1111
Hello, I have a tin of Sparkling Ale to brew and was wondering what to do with this. Was thinking of a mid-strength Fat Yak clone: Sparkling Ale Tin 500g LDM 200g Crystal steeped 30 mins A blend of Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops Would this tin be an okay base for this recipe? Thanks all!
The Brew Master
...... Paul, why would you waste a good tin of Sparkling Ale?[unsure] Just make the SA to the recipe for a great beer. Cheers, Peter
PaulM1111
In all honesty I am not a huge fan of SA (I am allowed to say that on here??) Looking at making a hoppy mid ale before the tin goes off. Will just try the recipe I posted above and see how it goes!
PB2
The residual sweetness from the crystal malt should balance out nicely with the bitterness in the sparkling ale kit. Just dry hop with the cascade/nelson sauvin blend and the brew should turn out to be very nice [joyful]
PaulM1111
Thanks PB2 - what amounts of dry hopping would you recommend? Do you dry hop at the start or fermentation or a few days in?
PB2
I would do Cascade/Nelson Sauvin as a 1:2 ratio, perhaps 10g + 20g = 30g. Maybe after the first couple of days fermenting but it doesn't matter too much if you put them in at the start.
