anthony m1
G'day All I was about to put the Coopers Dark Ale Recipe from the "How to Brew" section. But have since found out we're low on sugar. I'm thinking of subbing the 200g of Sugar with Golden Syrup. Having never brewed with it before. I was just wondering what to expect flavor wise. And will it be noticeable over the 200g amount. I've got a 2lt starter of Coopers Commercial Yeast ready to go, so I'm pretty keen to get this one going. Cheers Anthony
PB2
You could use golden syrup, flavours may not be obvious amongst the dark malt extract characters. You might need about 250g to get a similar amount as 200g of sugar.
anthony m1
Thanks Paul I held off and we've now stocked up on sugar. I'll make it to recipe tonight. And might mess around with Golden Syrup or even Molasses next time. Would Molasses be noticeable over that amount? Cheers Anthony
PB2
Rarely used molasses - it may have some effect - not sure if it suits the style?? Give it a go and let us know what you think of it.
