housecat
Hey all, Just wondering if anyone has a recipe for making Miller's Genuine Draught. I have been drinkin a bit of it and would like to try my hand at making a clone. Thanks for any help Paul
PB2
I walk by Miller Genuine Draft in the bottlos quite often but never think to buy any - not sure why  The last time I imbibed this beer was probably 1990 when in the RAAF, on exercise in the USA. Both Miller and Coors were the brands of choice but the memory is dim. So my homework is to get some Miller to taste and analyse - will get back to you. Meantime, somebody else may have made a brew up that tastes like Miller??
PB2
The figures for MGD are in: Alcohol - 4.7% Colour - 5.8 EBC Bitterness - 9 IBU Density - 1.9 P (or 1.008) [this is not a dry beer so do not use enzyme] pH - 4.16 My tasting notes: pale straw, stark white head (tetrahop, perhaps) neutral aromas with slight DMS, high fizz, thin slightly soapy and soft bitterness. Note: DMS presents as a sweet corn aroma. So, using Coopers products, we need to use the lightest, least hopped can of Home Brew with adjuncts that will get the alcohol up while retaining some body but not colour the brew too much  Okay, try this: 1.7kg Mexican Cerveza 1kg Coopers Brewing Sugar (the new formula in the box is a dextrose/maltodextrin blend) Use the yeast supplied and ferment at 16C-18C (or a sachet of Brew Cellar Premium Lager yeast at 15C). Bottle condition for at least 3 mths.
housecat
Thanks Paul Will give it a go and let u know how it goes. How much different would it be if I keg it as opposed to bottling? I usually bulk prime my kegs
PB2
You should find that it conditions up more quickly in keg than in bottle. Perhaps give it 2 mths in keg. Another option with this one, providing it tastes and smells fairly clean out of primary, would be to cold condition in a cube for a couple of weeks then drop it into a keg, force carbonate and dispense. housecat
I just put this baby in the fermenter and its tastes pretty good already. I also learnt why we put the can of concentrate in hot water first. That stuff comes out thicker than tar when it is cold :( Anyway, I will report back when I put it in to a keg
