Nothing at all, feel free to ask anytime.

ok so definitely not your computer...... shouldn't say definitely but very confident (99%) [biggrin] monitor it the same way for at least a week. i reckon taking it to a pc guy (paying for it) might be a waste of money.

You may have heard of "temp files" there bits of webpage saved on your pc to save loading time and download. try not deleting these pages if you get prompted. i think i clear mine every 6-8 months, it wont save you a hell of a lot but it will save some.

im leaning towards other devices sucking your usage. if youve changed your password and youve checked the other devices in the house next step would be contacting telstra ASAP and explaining your situation. they can tell you where your using the data , or at least how much data you've used on certain days.

If you have kids i would check out there pc as well. there pretty tech savy these days and know how to download films music[rightful]

either that or your secretly obsessed with downloading Mexican midget porn [lol]

no porn...but hey good idea lol...thanks heaps mate

without getting to complicated its 12% of your network speed. wich im assuming your wirless network. its not a % were its measuring data download. id say it fine howeevr if your not loading a page it should be 0. so another worlds you will open coppers home page you will see a spike then it will go back to 0 once its loaded. if hte page has finished loading and activity is still spiking you ve got ISSUES. wich i would suspect it could be an "ADD-ON" If thats the case i can walk you through some simple steps and your issue will be resolved :)

im actually having a bit of fun with this, i just ran a test.

im assuming your using internet explorer? i use google chrome.

i loaded the coopers page with Internet explorer the spike was huge,

i then loaded the same page with chrome and refreshed it twice. both times half the spike. now this might not mean much but i personell feel google chrome saves on resources and is definatly faster and possibly going to save you bandwith as it doesnt have alot of "add ons"

If you can handle the move swop to chrome. its more of a personell prefrence.

if your talking about the page you first see when you load chrome you might have to change some settings.

have a look at the photo ive attached.

ive highlighted the steps.

basically go to settings

under on start up

select Open a specific page or set of pages.

then Set pages

also youll notice google adress bar is also a search function. just type in a query and it will automatically search google for it

ok ive done some research and looks like its a common issue, however theres about several fixes. any one of them could or could not work :(

Your action plan [biggrin] .

1) uninstall it completely and dont worry about chrome for the moment

2) if password on wifi hasnot been changed , make sure you do

3) call telstra, they should give you some answers as to where your data is going. more specifically they will tell you that you used x amount of data during this time frame. should help you narrow down the issue.

if your on the 3 gb plan thats not much at all however from what youve explained it should go that quickly.

Give that a crack and let us all know

Do you have your internet connection protected with a password? a neighbour or someone close by can piggy back your connection. That would slow it down and obviously cost you money.

Apologies if that has already been discussed or thought of
