Muddy Waters Posted January 23, 2011 Share Posted January 23, 2011 Hi Dave - I usually takes 2-3 weeks for me to get deliveries in Sydney. There is a shipping charge. You can go to the shop website and pick what you want then go to the checkout and the delivery charge will be added. You can bail out once the delivery charge is displayed if you just want to get an idea of how much it will cost you without actually placing the order. Maybe they should put on a few hombrewers as consultants we'd set them on the right track. On the delivery front this can always be blamed on Aussie Post. Initially, a delicate situation - not wanting to be seen as a competitor with Specialist Stores, they set the price of brewing products accordingly. They are a small retail outlet, operating as a separate business unit. As with most small retailers, they look to move with the customers' wants and needs. Good to know - I'll cut them a bit of slack from now on [innocent] All my whingeing and whining aside I have always been happy with their service and the quality and freshness of the product. The only 2 sticking points are the inclusion of outdated products in the the pamphlets I receive with my orders and the fact that the delivery are about 30% above average (I know, I know, I'm like a broken record [pinched] ). But again this is something to raise with them. I must say that faced with not being able to purchase Home Brew products from the Coopers Store I would be the first to happily pay the extra cost for delivery as I can't get some of the items at my only LHBS. Muddy Waters Posted February 3, 2011 Share Posted February 3, 2011 I haved moaned a fair bit about the delivery charges from the Coopers Store in the past so I thought I should post soemthing (mostly) positive. I made an order on the 27th of Jan and it has just turned up in record time on the morning of the 3rd of Feb. That has got to be a record (it usually takes 2-3 weeks). The only downside is the quality of items in the $20 showbag I also ordered - but that is to be expected. I don't think the cooler bag has any insulating properites and is a big let down as I had big plans fo it and the stainless steel mug seems a bit on the crappy side but I could be wrong? Has anyone used one? The wall mounted bottle opener looks pretty good but now I have to get a wall [biggrin] . Kearnage Posted February 3, 2011 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Hey Muddy, I plonked the weight and dimensions of the 5 cans of goo I ordered from the Coopers online store into the Australia Post parcel cost calculator, and got a quote from Adelaide CBD to Sydney CBD - $25!! [w00t]. I don't know how much you ordered, but given they also send them registered mail at additional cost, it looks like Coopers may have actually subsidised your postage. I think Australia Post may be the villains here. [pinched] My order turned up in 4 working days or so, well packaged, and cheaper than I could have got if I drove an hour to the closest LHB who stock them, so I'm not complaining. I also did some dummy orders with SA brew supplies stores as comparison and they came out closer to the $15 mark too. People who like Coopers may wish to buy a Coopers T-Shirt or similar and the Coopers store caters to those people. I for one don't think I could visit SA and not buy a T-Shirt.
