Nick Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Hi all, had a very nice little Sunday sesh at the Great northern in Byron Bay yesterday and really enjoyed all the Stone and Wood beers that were on tap. My favorite was the Garden Ale, which is apparently a mid strength. There is no way that i would ever have picked it for a mid as the flavour and body was amazing. Does anyone know a simple K & B recipe that might come close to this lovely beer? The hop profile was wonderful, with a well balanced bitterness, immediate flavour hit when in the mouth and a really nice hop after taste. I look forward to some ideas as i will make this my next brew. Cheers,
Hairy Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I haven't tried this one but is this the beer they brew with juniper berries? I had a weekend on the mids. Rogers Ale and Murray's Punch and Judy. Both packed with flavour [love]
ben 10 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Could just try a dry hop with (st)ella on a coopers Pale tin. Or a brief boil with crystal + dry hop? Brewed with a blend of pale and crystal malts, and both kettle and dry hopped with Ella, a new world hop variety from the Australian hop gardens, our Garden Ale has a citrus fruit aromatic balanced with a clean malt character and an easy bitter finish.
Hairy Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 It looks like it was the 2012 release that had the juniper berries plus Ella and Summer hops. Stone and Wood - 2012 Garden Ale Their juniper berry crop mustn't have been very good this year.
Otto Von Blotto Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I tried one of these at Archive not the weekend just gone but the one before. I wouldn't have picked it as a midstrength either but I must say I rather enjoyed it.[joyful]
