BradP4 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Hi all, as the coming summer will be my first with home brew I'm wondering if the stocks of beer I have in the shed will keep OK during the heat of an Adelaide summer. I've done a search on here and couldn't find anything to answer my question. I have an old fridge I can get some into, but not all the bottles, and I've got a few brews lined up to do yet before summer.
Hairy Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I don't know the science behind it but storing beer in the heat is supposed to increase the aging of the beer and possibly increase staling. I would suggest moving the beer into your house and moving less important things out to the shed [biggrin]
PB2 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Over the years, I've stored beer in my garage and I would imagine it gets up into the low 40s, from time to time, through the summer months. Not a good environment for long term storage (+2 years) but ok for shorter term storage. [biggrin] Extreme temps (high 40s and above) can stretch PET bottles (it may be referred to as creep) to the point where they might fail and glass bottles might go BANG!!
