Nick Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Well lads, after smashing every lager and pilsner I've made in the last 12 months with a 25gm dry hop of Cascade, its time for a change. I'm going back to an APA next up and would like to know what the consensus is on a suitable dry hop other than cascade. I will go with the most popular answer, (as long as my LHBS has it). I will be putting it down on Thursday[biggrin]
PB2 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Chinook is a hop worth giving a run and Centennial has a subtle difference to Cascade.
GrahamB8 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Citra or Simcoe or both.... How did you pull up Sat mate? wish I could have stopped for a few but SWMBO was driving so I didn't want to push it.
PhilboBaggins Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Centennial, Citra, Motueka. Bottled my mosaic APA today which tasted, [love]. And what's this? Did you have a party without inviting your best pal Phil?[surprised

Hey Graham, i had a similar issue with the princess of darkness, but i did get into a few SN torpedo's after i left, so i was a bit dusty this morning.
Canadian Eh!L Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hey Nick, It's hard for me not to throw a little Cascade in to every brew. Maybe a little combo is what you need! These are some of the combos I like are... Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin. Cascade, Citra, Chinook. Another great hop for Dry hoping is Hallertau!
LeCoq/Rooster Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Cage Road did a beautiful single hopped IPA with (st)ella hops. It inspired my (St)Ella Pale Ale = beautiful. On the weekend, I had a growler of an aussie red ale with Ella hops as well. Also, very sessionable. A non-beer drinking mate started with a half a glass and ended up drinking half the growler on his own. That said, I also love Hallertau dry hopped. Some of those subtle NZ hops are great for dry hopping.
Nick Posted October 31, 2013 Author Posted October 31, 2013 That said, I also love Hallertau dry hopped. Some of those subtle NZ hops are great for dry hopping. I ended up going with Hallertau on this recommendation. It smelt lovely when i opened the sachet and i look forward to the first taster. I think i will try some of the others next, maybe Citra then Galaxy....thanks for the ideas gents.
Hairy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 That said' date=' I also love Hallertau dry hopped. Some of those subtle NZ hops are great for dry hopping.[/quote'] Do you mean Hallertau or Pacific Hallertau (Pacifica)? Pacifica and Moteuka is [love]
