Bottling from coopers fermenter

So I have 2 fermenters on the go at the moment. One is the old style (not coopers) bubbler with the tap a couple of liters from the bottom.

The second is a Coopers fermenter with the collar and the tap sits about 5 liters up.

My question is, how do people bottle without losing 5L of the brew. Prop the back up a couple of days before bottling/from the start? or is that where people stop bottling?

Cheers

Some people chock the back up when bottling. I just lean it forward with one hand and leave very little beer behind.

I crash chill my beer so, depending on the type of yeast, I tend to get a nice compacted trub at the bottom.

Same here. I have my fermenter sitting on another bucket to raise it up. Under the first bucket I have a piece of wood lifting up the back end

Yep....i use an old phone book to tilt the FV, then tilt it by hand to get the last couple of bottles out. I also CC, which does compact the trub and i get virtually every drop out.

The tap position is definitely to high and a real PITA. I have other FV's where the tap is only about 10mm off the bottom and i find that to be plenty of clearance. It will be interesting to see if Coopers change the design in the future
