Claypot
The price rise's from the carbon tax have started. But I didn't think it was going to start on the malt extracts, and Brew cans. 22% rise on the light malt thats a bit stiff I reackon.$9 to $11, O.k $9 for 1.5 Kg of light dry malt was a very good price and one I have been taking great advantage of. What am I on about.. Coopers online homebrew store prices have just gone up heaps. Was just about to order another case of goodies but just stopped to have a winge. Sure things have to go up but 15 - 20% I ask?! I was paying $8.80 postage for 6 tins life was good....perhaps to good, but now what, off to A.G I guess, have 5 different hop bines on the way this season so maybe this is the push I need. But extract is so easy and coppers tins so good.
Damien E1
The carbon tax hasn't come into force yet. Hell, it hasn't even got through the lower house yet!
91abv_chris
Ugh. Environmental taxes like that are the biggest scams on the planet. It's going to get worse until we stand up and say 'enough'.
Claypot
But in all seriousness, my last online order of 6 tins of extract and brew tins was $63.75 it is now $76 - thats 22% more.... thats taking the piss I think. Copied from the last coopers order email: \tThe Order will be undergoing some major developments in the near future which means more competitions, more promotions and more opportunities to reward you for being such loyal fans! Rewarding me for being a loyal fan by charging me 22% more, thats not the pleasent surprise I had in mind.
Guest
Coopers had a special on their products not long ago. You may be referring to the prices they advertised then.....
Muddy Waters
You're right Claypot - I just had a look and the prices have certainly risen. I wonder if postage has gone up too? Any cost benefit of ordering direct has now well and truly gone [crying] ...it is still fresher though.
Trusty1
[biggrin] The price rise's from the carbon tax have started. But I didn't think it was going to start on the malt extracts' date=' and Brew cans.[/quote'] Has Abbott [alien] hacked our site? this sounds like one of his bogus claims! I know (or hope) Claypot is only joking, but everytime a product or service increases, the Libs are going to blame it on the cost of Australia having a clean energy future! Claypot
Yep sure it's nothing to do with carbon tax. Are we going to see these price rises in the shops also? Or is it the likes of Big W pressuring Coopers to put thier online store prices up so they can maintain a pricing monopoly. I Did here Coopers was trying to get their Thomas Coopers range into Wollies and the likes so maybe they have had to put the online prices up so the Thomas Cooper range would be stocked in the shops.... I always thought that the online prices plus the Coopers Order discount was exellent value, so I could of lived with a rise to meet inflation or even 10% but not 20%. Muddy Waters
I don't think you'll ever see the Thomas Coopers range in Woolies (as much as I'd like to) as this would be seen as Coopers undermining the LHBS.
Damien E1
Yep sure it's nothing to do with carbon tax. Please point me to the act or bill signing any carbon tax in Australia into law. You can't, because there isn't one.
rossm
...don't get bent outa shape fellas....no we don't have a carbon tax yet, yes we will more than likely get one, yes the Liberals will blame it for everything going up in price, yes they will be justified in doing so, no we won't be getting a cleaner energy world....we are still going to sell the carbon generating coal to the worlds big polluters and as for Coopers prices going up.....I though they were dear enough online already! PB2
Claypot, I forwarded your question to our General Store people. They explained that a pricing error was made during the site re-development. This error was only picked up recently. Now Brewing Products are set at a price comparable to the RRP of other stores. Well done to those who managed to take advantage of the pricing error!! [biggrin] The TC selection is only available at brewing specialist stores. We intend for this to remain the case, so that those stores carry a point of difference over supermarkets and variety stores.
Damien E1
Question for you PB2: will homebrew prices be affected by the alcohol tax rise coming in on August 1?
Matty A
I don't think they would be Damien being that Homebrew products arnt alcoholic. Someone will surely put me in my place if I am wrong.
PB2
That's it - Excise does not bother our beer kits! Over the years, our products haven't even kept pace with CPI [biggrin]

Claypot
Thanks for following that up PB2. I guess it was good buying, and still is for me as my nearest HBS doesn't stock Coopers and tipicly takes the piss on all other prices. No names but is part of a large franchise.
