Deep Creek Brewing (NZ) 'Kombi' American style Pale Ale.

DeepCreek_KombiPale.jpg

Enjoying a few of these atm. Quite impressed. Really nice drop (IMHO). joyful

I'm a little amazed I haven't heard of these guys until now. By the looks, very serious brewers.

Champion International Small Brewery - 2017 - Australian International Beer Awards.

I shall be looking out for more of their beers as they become available. cool

Cheers,

Lusty.

Looks good lusty, I’ll keep an eye out for it over here in the west.

I had the pleasure today of enjoying a dessert stout by Big Shed brewery.

It blew my mind at how complex the beer was.

You folk over in south aust have got a few great breweries over there.

Cheers,

Captain

Bought a six pack of Storm Super Dry to see what all the fuss was about given it won a gong at the most recent Australian International Beer Awards for the best Australian style lager.

Tried two bottles last night.

Still wondering what all the fuss was about ....

I bought a six pack of the Kombi tonight; really nice easy drinking beer.

But what I went in to for was the Deep Creek Rusty Gringo India Brown Ale that I tried last week. It seems like a made up style but OMG, it is friggin awesome. It has me talking like a teenage girl tongue

A seriously good beer. I think a Brown Ale with Citra and Cascade has been added to my brewing list.

I have also tried their Pontoon in a Monsoon IPA which was good but a little full on for me. You definitely need to be in the mood for that type of beer and I don’t think I was. I will have to revisit it.

I don’t know much about them but Deep Creek look like a good Brewery.

Not sure where everyone is on this forum, but if you are in the outer SE Melbourne area, do yourself a favour and call into the "Bottle-0" in Pakenham (Corner of Racecourse Rd and Cameron way).

They have the best selection of "Local" and Interstate produced craft beers that I have seen. The selection keeps constantly changing, which IMHO is great.

Don't be fooled by the megaswill signage out the front of the store.

Cheers,

Dave.

I went for a drive and had a few beers in different places. My focus was mainly on session ales in cans.

150 Lashes - actually nice ice cold from an esky, tasted like lemonade.

4 Pines Indian Summer Ale - nice and refreshing.

Coopers Session Ale - very good, crisp and easy drinking.

Mountain Goat Summer Ale - good drop, tasted like orange juice.

John Boston Pale Ale - easy drinking, don't recall actually.

Pirate Life IPA - nice to have a good bitter hit after all the pales.

Pirate Life Mosaic IPA - Really enjoyable mosaic hit.

Little Creatures Dog Days - very well done hoppy beer. Really prominent hop flavours.

Little Creatures Elsie WA Ale - rather ordinary, no hop flavour (bottles).

Matso's Mango IPA - superb rendition of a fruity IPA (tap).

Matso's Monsoonal Blonde - really good and refreshing in the 40°c heat (tap).

Matso's Angry Ranga - ginger and chilli beer, I quite enjoyed it, good chilli hit (tap).

6Tanks Hopped Hazelnut Amber - stunning oily hazelnutty beer. Very well done and tops hazelnut flavour (tap). Had a few other beers on tap there but cannot remember what they were.

Had a go at this tonight.

Dangerous!

It took me back to drinking Lemon, Lime and bitters @ the local when I was a kid with my Family on special occasions.

Not the best IPA I've had, but very enjoyable ?

Cheers,

Dave

I tried a John Boston Session IPA yesterday.

I wasn’t expecting much and my expectations where met.

This beer is just beer. Nothing more then that.

Their marketing department has grabbed a term as its in vogue and used it for a beer that is no more than a bland pale ale.

God that annoys me when the big breweries jump on the marketing/name brand name.  A session IPA should not be bland at all.

I had the pleasure of trying a wet hop ale, aka fresh harvest ale.  First time I've ever tried a beer like this.  I had the Sauce Brewing Co's WXXPA.

It matched the reviews exactly.  Brewed with Enigma and Galaxy, you expect a passionfruit bomb but it's more subtle.  The wet hops seem to contribute a fresh cut grass aroma and the beer was resinous, but not like the big American hops.  Very yummy, very different.  Might be able to try another fresh hop harvest beer from another brewer, but time and stock is definitely running out.

I have tried a few more Deep Creek beers since then and all have been good. The Lupulin Effect New England IPA and Red IPA were both great. The Red was similar to the Modus Former Tenant.

Today was my first time back on the forum for a fair while; I was caught up on a major project at work and haven't had much time for brewing. It was a bit of a surprise when I logged back on this morning. The place looks fresh.

I have a bit of catching up to do.

I’m drinking a James Squire Hop Thief 9 tonight. I picked up a case for $52 and it is quite drinkable. Better than the 8 but not as good as the 7.

And really like the Coopers Session Ale in cans.
