Unfortunately I haven't lost weight.

Hey Graculus @Graculus

Mate every little bit helps and really really good that your BP and sleep are better - seriously good start!

And sleeping better and lower BP will help re the weight - but as a mate once said to me - The only thing between you and your perfect weight, is your mouth... so it is all about intake.

What intake, when and how much... 😬

And sadly just from my own hard experience - well it works for me - but I hafta keep pursuing it - is the no carb thing and reduced amounts and between 1000-1800 hours... if you can do the Michael Mosley (and many other Diabetes-BP expert medical folk) approach of 12 weeks at 800cals per day and no carbs - I would like to suggest it will change your life.

But hey it may not work for some... it did for me really well... bit of a tough gig... but I am able to make meself a nice low or no-carb cooked brekky and that helps a lot.

This sorta thing (off his website) works well... and keeps you going for ages 👍  And I do the one snag, one egg, one bacon, one tomato plus spinach or avo quite regularly and that is good. I cook up some pork snags and keep them cold and re-heat one per day for me brekky...  But NO bread, or potatoes or crumpets or toast or crackers or any carbs... definitely no sugar in coffee or tea or softdrink or mangoes or bananas full of carbs : (

But not to be forgotten a festive cooked brekky then is a fair component of the daily allowance of intake...   so you gotta know that maybe half of your daily intake is now gone.

Drinking loadsa water also somehow fills yer up a bit too... fizzy water is great.

And lots of non-starchy veggies helps fill yer up too.

@ozdevil Hey Ozzy mate losing 8 is a ripper start - really really good - and yeah if you can do the no carb and 800cal thing... suspect you will likely drop quite a bit more.

It is easier said than done - but if you can hold to it - seriously 2 weeks you will see a difference... and then 8 weeks - lots.... and yeah 12 is good too but a bit longer again 👍

But it seems to change everything... weight loss, less pressure on knees back ankles, lower BP, way better blood sugar and better sleep...  but it is a bit of a journey and yep yer gotta stick to it -- as jumping back on carbs even only every now and then -- sorta badly stufffffs up yer metabolism again...

Just rehashing this

i still have a few issues my heart doc wants to see me in April,   he thinks i can get from 160kg down to 70kgs  , i'd be happy to get to around 120kg-110kgs not thats my end goal
he has change my medication around  for what he thinks is a better drug but it is a low dose   so i think when i get to my  normal gp next Monday for review from the heart doctors changes  my medication dosage will be taken up.

from about December  i had to stop one of the drugs i am on due to a shortage  and this has set me back a bit as  i was put on another drug  until the shortage was over, and it still is in shortage.  but this other drug is  not really helping my situation. these drugs was to help with my blood sugar levels as well as weight, i wont hide the fact i was on Ozempic and then my doc put me onto Byetta

however when i 1st posted my weight was 160kg  and managed to get down to 153kgs   well i have slowed down and i am just pushing 151kgs   they Byetta  was holding me steady  and didn't put anything back on i would gain 1kg take 1kg off

however i managed to get hold of Ozempic  as a surprise shipment from novo norsdisk  had arrived and my pharmacist said  come in and get your script filled (the good thing is this time around its $15 dollars cheaper

As of tommorow morning around 4am i'll be at the gym  on the treadmills rowers etc   and tommorow night i start in the pool doing water aerobics they call it aqua  lol

i Plan on atleast 2 days water aerobics and 3 days gym  + 3 games of golf  and if i can push 5 days at the gym  will be bonus days

During when i have started this i have been trying to eat smaller proportians and the right  foods and i have cut out sugars and salts

I still manage a beer   , i dont want to give that up but i have cut down as i only drink on Fridays and Saturdays and the occasional sunday if i play golf

Thanks for listening and reading

Ya forgot -

Sex and

Beer.

Just kidding @ozdevil, you can have as much sex as you can get.  It's good for you.

Good on you for your tremendous effort I know what hard work it is to lose weight.  Back when I was 40 my Dr. said my cholesterol was too high and he wanted to put me on pills to get it down.  I am 180 cm tall and at the time I was 96 kg so I said no way, I will get my weight down easy enough, I don't want to take any pills.

Stopped eating anything that had more than a few % fat in it, which was nearly everything except salad.  At dawn everyday went to the local pool and swam laps like a mad man.  Other swimmers used to come over and say slow down, slow down, you will kill yourself.  Went to the gym after work six nights a week and did their pre-programmed 2-hour sessions.  Only ate one meal a day and that was a big mistake.

Sure, I lost weight quickly and got down to 86 kg in a few months but then started having what I call "brown outs" at work.  Not blacking out and not feinting, somewhere in between and I knew I had to get down on the floor quickly otherwise I would hurt myself.  Even had them driving my car a couple of times and luckily, I could pull off to the side or go bush so as not to hurt anyone.

So as a warning to you, take it easy a slowly and you will get there, I know you will.

I finally woke up that it had taken me years to put that weigh on, so it was going to take probably about the same time to take it back off, could not rush it.    In the end I am now on those damn cholesterol pills, luckily the only pill I take to date but I'm now up to 100 kg.

Take your pills and do the work but please strike a balance and you will see the dividends in return.  Good Luck OD.

Follow the regime.  I took the "I'll do what ever you say, but not the beer intake approach".  Keep as much as possible on the straight and narrow.  Don't go nuts with the brew, but enjoy yourself.  The Fridays and Saturdays scenario seems like a good approach.

Look after yourself OD, your health is above everything else & I am sure you can do it, following doctors' orders, restrain from bad habits & discipline will get you back on track.

Of course, exercise & a good diet are paramount, all the best mate.

There is an old saying, 'Prevention is better than the cure'

Cheers

Thankyou all for the Knd words and encouragement.

when  you have high blood pressure and cholestral     drugs are unavoidable for me  as much as i dont want to take them
however much prefer to live then not take them

i dont plan on going like a hammer and tong  at gyms  and just using it as a tool to help  to get my weight down, i want my body to adjust properly to the change  rather then shocking my body

i am grateful so far to have lost what i have and it can stay lost

but thanks once again  for the encouragement and kind words

Yeah, nah! Sugar is the only one I'd discourage. All the rest are fine in moderation.

@ozdevil Good to see your weight reducing. That's about 5% of your body mass gone. Keep at it, mate.

Well  more of an update on my goings on i  know i am  boring you of all this.  but its keeping me motivated  to keep on truckin along

been back on my weekly injections for a month now had to start at the lowest dose so i dont shock the pancreas to much  which was 4 weeks of .25 next sunday i push up to .5 for two weeks
As i recall from last time i mention i was 151kg  down from 160kg.  well i have now broken the 150   and not out on 148kg  so i am still  going south   in the right direction

i am starting to feel changes with in the body , i am starting to be able to stand longer and walk alot more then i once was,  i think i could start walking to the pub now with a bit more ease on Friday night

Tonight  instead of going to the gym  i went to water Aerobics with my partner  as my knees and back still ache bit and thought the pool will be alot easier and less taxing
on the body  and wont punish my knees to much  ..  well  i wont say to the wife i loved it or enjoyed it , but it  was good and a few golfing mates was there as well   so  it was much easier and relaxing    then not knowing anyone   .  So i have decided to cool the gym  down a bit and do water aerobics   and go to the gym on the off days .

i'm sick of eating like rabbit but its gotta be done for the best  ..

i haven't felt this good in such along time  and hope by the next time  i post about weight and health  i have good reports to come .    As most likely by then i have been to my heart specialist and he gives me some better news

anyway have fun guys

Great to hear you are going in the right direction OD.  It helps to have somebody to go with.  The commitment you make to each other keeps the momentum going.

@ozdevil, our friend, you are not boring us at all.  You are inspiring us; I mean all of us.  Well done.

Glad to hear you are progressing with your targets and I commend you on that.  I am sure Mrs. OzDevil is giving you all the support you need at home (along with those "special cuddles" which also help a great deal at the appropriate time of day/night of course).

Now I have one caveat on my good wishes to you with your endeavours.

That is when you end up with an Alby Mangels torso please don't come back in here, post a pic and rub your abs and pec's in my face - OK. ha ha.   Good luck OD.

Never boring Oz mate so keep on posting - we love hearing about your journey mate.

Well done with tackling this and awesome work with the water aerobics - much better for the joints.

The way you're going Oz you'll be hittin' 100 kg in no time - haha.

You're an inspiration to all of us here at the Forum Ozzie - well played young man!

@ozdevil This is good reading. While you still have a way to go just take stock of what you've achieved already. You've dropped 12 fkn kgs! Imagine carrying around 7 tins of Cooper's extracts because that's what you were doing but now you're not. Brilliant! Keep at it.

boring you people again

well its been a bit of whirlwind and things coming to end last sunday the 23/4 as i took my last  injection for  type 2 diabetes because its in shortage  , not only did this medication keep my blood sugars low   but it has helped with other factors as well , even though i have it on order its stated back order until June 30th 2023 .

but lucky  i still have something to tie me over until June 30th  but i need to go back injecting twice daily instead of once a week ,  which is a huge advancements for diabetics

however that alittle bit of the negative

the good thing is i am still going south with weight  and nearly lost 15kgs  which is huge effort so far

had my quarterly check up with my heart specialist today and i went thinking the worse but came out on a rather high
my heart doc said well  your cholesterol is better then  the average person  now then it was 3 months ago , we have fixed that
the ecg is showing the ticker of 30 year old
yeah blood pressure is not my liking but i did change you to a low dose he said  but we will up that to 10 mg

i see ya still drink mick  i said what makes ya think that doc,  he said your on a good beer forum  called coopers, i accidently lade my phone with the coopers site  open, silly me
he said dont panic ya doing great

next breath he said , you dont need to see me ever again , becuase ya heart is strong and we can fix it now and this can be done through gp

i still cant be complacent and go back to normal in my life , but i canm start seeing benifits now , i am walking  further  then i could be before
trying to eat correctly and not eat as much as i used to

being out of 1 of my drugs is not going to stop me moving forward i can only still try to follow these things to make it easier for when i can get my  prescription filled

but things are looking up
