Dave Watson Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Evening all, Can I ask if anyone has successfully made a sour from a Coopers APA can, BE2 and a couple of Philly Sour packets. I am going to try and see how I get on but if anyone has any tips, suggestions or recipes they could throw my way I would be massively grateful. Thanks all and have a great weekend.
Greenyinthewestofsydney Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Only used philly sour once but not with a can and BE but it should work fine. 2 packets might be a little bit of overkill but it will get the job done. I would add a dry hop to it about day 3 as well. I find that works well with a sour. 1

I think it would go well. Like @Greenyinthewestofsydney, I have only used Philly Sour once in an all grain brew. 50:50 Pale Malt and Wheat Malt to OG 1.049. The recipe I used said to use 2 packets so I did. Brewed at 25°C with very good results. Nice sour but not twist your lips off sour. I think the Philly Sour would go well in a Coopers Hefe Wheat. 1
Dave Watson Posted November 12, 2021 Author Posted November 12, 2021 I have done an all grain that turned out really well but trying to check as my Brewzilla is currently out of action 1
