What's your stock like?

I just did a clean up in the brew cupboard - I've been a bit slack on stacking stuff away and things were a mess.

So bu-gg-er the Govt and lockdowns, I have 24 cans of various Coopers Extracts, from Sparkling and Brew A's through to real Ale. Got a Dark Ale and Irish Stout there as well.

Also got 9 cans LME sitting there. 10 kg LDME, 2 kg American Ale Malt, 5 kg (+ ~a couple of kg) Coopers Ale Malt, 2 kg Light Crystal, 2 kg Maris, 1 kg Golden Promise and I think a bit of choc malt at the bottom - I couldn't be stuffed pulling it all out as I'd already done too much bending of back and knees. 😄

Also got better than a kilo of various hops - and I don't use much - maybe up to 40g on occasion. Simcoe, Mosaic, Lemondrop (for my XPA's) some Cascade, Citra EKG - think there's some fuggles there but I might have used it recently,  Amarillo, Super Pride and 1 or 2 others in lesser amounts.

So I think I'm good for a while...

How are your stocks doing? 😄

All i've got stored is two extract packs in the fridge. The Voyage American Pale Ale, and Coopers Vintage 2021 ROTM.

I'm just not overly excited in brewing them at the moment.

I have all my salts and chalk and gypsum of course for all grain, and left over hops and yeasts. But i usually brew on the fly.

Damn I thought I had too much stock for a rainy day

I was putting money aside and when specials came up or Coopers do their free shipping for $80 I would buy. It built up nicely. 😄 I think I better save for Xmas now though... 😄

10 kegs from full to nearly empty.   These are all grain: 2x English Bitter, 2 x Irish Red Ale, 1 x Golden Ale,  2 x German Pilsner,  1x Vienna,  1 x American Pale Ale.  and 1 kit of Elderflower and lime cider that was made in December last year and is drinking brilliantly right now.  Also an AG Australian lager that is to be brewed this coming week.  so that will give me 44 litres fermenting waiting for the empty kegs.  Think that will dome for a few months.

Also must add kudos to the Qld government. Without them we would not have the relative normal life we have here in Qld for the guts of the last year and a bit.  So I have had no problem getting supplies.

Been good (*touchwood*) here in SA as well. Funny how the most totalitarian States have the highest deaths (97.3% between the 2 of them)  and huge ongoing case numbers but the States where we got treated as humans rather than recalcitrant juvenile delinquents are doing OK. 😄

I started the collection because I kept expecting we would get hard lockdown just 'because' but so far it hasn't happened. Although the Community Club did shut down for a month or so and that's my normal socialising venue. 😞

5 kegs in various stages, 2 FV in the fridge, ca. 20kg Voyager Veloria, ca. 12kg Barret Burston Pale malt, 5kg wheat, 5kg vienna, 5kg Pilsener,  6kg Red X, several kilos of specialty malt like light, medium and dark crystal, choc malt, roasted barley, choc wheat, brown malt, Shepherd's delight, Cara Munich, flaked barley, rolled oats and probably a few bits more. Hops I'm not sure what is there. I have a ship load of them but never seem to have what I need for the job at hand 🙂 Amounts vary between 30g and 350g of things like EKG, Fuggle, Perle, Hersbrucker, Tettnang, Hallertau, Hallertau Blanc, Nelson Sauvin, Galaxy, Mosaic, Summer, HORT 4337, HBC 630, Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade, Citra, Magnum, Saaz, Chinook and probably a few more. I have a tonne of yeast, well over 100g US-05, a few sachets of Notty, Windsor, a bit of S04, some MJ Liberty Bell, MJ Bavarian Wheat etc. No Dubja but. a fresh 6kg bottle and 2 full 2.6 bottles of gas will keep the beer flowing 🙂

All up I should be able to brew an easy 10 batches of various beers but supply hasn't been an issue throughout the pandemic. Hoppy Days delivered throughout the day after ordering, so there is no shortage.

Yeah I'm in NSW, iv still been travelling state to state and international with minimal restrictions.  I filled up a FV with mead and a 10 litre French Oak barrel full of goodness which will dilute down to around 15 litres for when I return around Christmas plus put down 4 FVs worth of stuff which will sit for a few months awaiting my return.

Yeah, I had 2 blow consecutively the other night. Moved the other 2 kegs & realised I need the next 2 in the ferment fridge NOW. 😄

@disgruntled Decent stash - is that about 15 brews worth?

I seem to be holding OK, plenty of yeast in the fridge etc. I wouldn't discount the idea of another lockdown so it's good to be a 'Doomsday Prepper" 😜

Just In Time.  JIT.  That is what industry calls the practice of reducing your warehouse requirement by ordering in inventory just in time.  Let the supplier bear the cost of storage.  Let them deal with the problem of perishables and just order what you need when you need it.  The whole idea depends entirely upon the reliability of the supply chain, the accuracy of your requirement and consistency in the level of demand but given those things JIT works.  There is less waste, you require less space, it is all together more economical.

As an apprentice minimalist it is important to me that my brewery is contained by my brew fridge, 6 milk crates of bottles (= 7 dozen) and a small free standing cupboard.  It is not allowed to be any bigger than that, it is not permitted to grow.   It is not allowed to take over my kitchen or any other room of my house.  I wish I had a room to devote to brewing but I don't.  I wish I had the money to fill that room with bright and shiny equipment but I don't.  Still my little brewery, all 0.75 square metres of it,  manages to keep me stocked with an abundance and variety of beer which I enjoy very much.

Last week I took delivery from Coopers of four kits, three cans of malt extract and krausen collar for my little FV.  They arrived in good time and were very well packaged. The price was excellent as I not only received club discounts I also received free postage.  My car did not leave the driveway let alone make the 50km journey to a retailer who could meet my needs.  This lot will make 120 bottles of beer which will see me through to Xmas.

Thank you Cooper's.
