Journeyman
Years back, when my brewery sophistication was basically Guinness, Caffreys or occasional mega-swill, I travelled. I was looking through my pics and saw a little Brew-Bar in Cortez that talked me into a raspberry beer. I was very nice, a fairly light ale but what struck me was you only got the fruit taste AFTER you swalloed - in the mouth it was just a very drinkable beer. (VERY drinkable - I wound up spending several hours in a bikiw bar called (I think) the Pink Pussy till the wee small hours) Since then I've only tried 'fruit' beers a couple of times - found them pretty ordinary and the fruit flavour is in the mouth and overpowers any beer taste. Does anyone know how to get that post-swallow effect (keep your ribald suggestions to yourself, OK? ) instead of the smack-your-tongue-around effect of 'normal' fruit beers?
