Greenyinthewestofsydney
What a fcukin disaster!!! No visible sign of anything from the starter and its 18 hours in. Yeast obviously mishandled somewhere with a BBD of march 2022. Plan C in effect. 2x 750ml bottle of flanders red from the sour batch kids yeast in the fridge. Dregs are going in the starter after I drink them this evening with some 1 month old WY1388 duvel slurry. That should fire up overnight and pitch tomorrow morning. Majorly disappointed!!!. Was so looking forward to a roselare flanders.

I HIGHLY recommend this thread https://aussiecraftbrewing.com.au/thread/129/brewman-news?page=22&scrollTo=82898 He announces an order and orders in fresh. I had a pack that was four weeks old.... regularly get REALLY fresh stuff.

I reckon you would have a few too @disgruntled I believe you keg, so probably don't count them. Doesn't matter anyway, if you don't smoke & do drugs & eat well a few grogs won't hurt. While I am packing up for the house move I am a bit reluctant to start too many more so I may have to slow down on production FTTB. Marty_G
Huge day today. Did a double brew AG day took 8 hours in total. 10.30am-5.30pm. First brew was a23 litre American Pale Ale second was a 44 litre Irish Red Ale. Both pitched and in the fermentation freezer at 22c to ferment @ 15psi. Christmas beers have been seen to. Kegged 2x kegs of Vienna lager yesterday and the APA will be ready to drink by Christmas. The IRA is surpluss to immediate needs but will go in the keezer to condition when kegged.
Tricky Micky
@Shamus O'Sean, @iBooz2, @Classic Brewing Co, @Pale Man, @Tone boy Well this is a bit embarrassing I have 2 preserve jars of yeast slurry and I got them out of the fridge and they sat on the bench for an hour or so and the ambient temp was quite warm. Well the yeast did it's thing and when I came around to opening the jars the lids have deformed I'm assuming to the pressure created in the jars and now I can't get the lids off...... I've tried large wrench, rubber gloves, and the old rubber bands around the tops- and I have mixed all the ingredients into the FV and waiting to pitch the yeast - Any tips or help in getting these jars open greatly appreciated.

Crisis averted. A massive wrench came to the rescue...might have to wait until I need the yeast from the fridge next time especially when it's so warm. 1

DavidM
I have not tried playing with Yeast yet. Wonder if putting back in Freezer for a bit would have relived the pressure and the lids.
