Norris!
Brewing an IPA, don't do many of these, pale ales and hazy ales are my usuals, but this is for the merry mashers comp on 27th May and I hope to get this IPA done and a hazy for the comp but my timeframes are running tight. Just over 30+ days. I want the NEIPA to be fresh and give this IPA time to settle and mature. I am not doing any boil additions, which will affect my clarity but we will see. I have not decided whether I will bottle some straight from the FV or if I will keg it and grab bottles from the keg, I always worry about oxidation with these hoppy brews. Anyways, good brewing.

Hey @Norris! To me that looks like another language, however I am sure you & others understand it I was just wondering, do those Comps only allow bottles or can you turn up with a keg or something portable ?
Norris!
@CLASSIC They have guidelines for each one, this is my 1st, but for this one you have to provide a bottle with at least 500ml in it. The beer I Am making will hopefully have a good solid malt backbone, be bitter and very fruity with some pine/dankness to it. I will try to get it clear but I expect some haze but not a lot. To explain the recipe.

By the way, I was laughing at the image of rucking up with a corny keg and serving the judges. But it was a fair question, trust me, I asked the SAME one, but they had a FAQ that covered it.

Classic Brewing Co
Hey Graubster, wouldn't you be a perfect candidate for a Competition ? I would have thought all of those enticing photos of your work you have posted would be up there with the best of them. I am interested in what other members say. Go for it oh Great Bearded One. 1

I understand that & a lot would depend on your location & other factors but sometimes it's a shame to see talent unnoticed. DeviantLogic
Today I put on a brew of Parity Amber Ale. So far I have followed the recipe, but I could only get 50g of cascade hops and don't think there's much I could do with 20g leftover (recipe calls for 30g), so I think I'm going to chuck in all 50g when the time comes.

Truly Spoken @Norris! .... you are a good lot ye Brewers! And besides... my current high ABV beers probably don't quite fit into any BJCP Category : | Though I do promise to try harder ; ) Edited April 27, 2021 by Graubart

As said previously just use all 50 grams. And can you put something under the wire shelf. Makes me feel nervous looking at that picture.

I would lose the shelf, put a block of wood or something to raise the tap.

Makes me feel nervous looking at that picture. That's the plan! I really do need to get something under there. I have been procrastinating for months now. It seems to handle the weight just fine, but it is silly to risk potentially spilling a whole brew just to save a trip to Bunnings. Aussiekraut
The un-Bavarian. The same recipe as my Hefe Weizen but it will be fermented using Notty, instead of a Bavarian Hefe yeast. Why? Just for s&g I guess 7
Aussiekraut
A citra hopped XPA FWK from All In brewing. This one was hard work. Not only did I have to add 5l of water but also mop up the mess I made when I spilt about half a litre of the wort. Don’t use it like a goon box as they recommend. Once you open the lid, it shoots out like a 5yo shooting flies off the wall of a urinal. 2 6

jamiek86
finished off in dark mixed and pitched yeast in shed with torch under chin. 1.7kg Coopers English Bitter 2kg Bursons Ale Malt 60 min mash 67 to 68 degrees most time too high for sugar extraction but good for body? About 8 litres water in mash. 150 grams light crystal 30 min steep 250 gram LDM 30 grams EKG 30 min boil not very vigorous but just bubbling at top to avoid lid use. Verdant IPA yeast 11.5 grams first time pitched 23 degrees BF to 18.5 degrees. Am thinking because not English style yeast should dry hop with mosaic first time on day 5 never used before supposed to have good flavour fruity etc? 20 litres OG 1.046 seem bit low but last time done partial 9 years ago wasn't taking gravity reading. Lost some wort straining grain was heavy and spat out side pillow case but am sure it will be tasty
RDT2
Feral’s Biggie Juice Clone of sorts today Pale Ale Wheat Malt Oats and a touch of crystal 60min Columbus to 25ibus 36 grams of Amarillo and 36grams Galaxy in the whirlpool and now fermenting with Kveik at 33 degrees. It kicked into gear very quickly there was movement in less than an hour. I will dry hop with 120 galaxy and some Amarillo can’t remember how much but smells awesome already. Brew day went okay but my hop spider seemed to clog up with hot break or something so I ended up cracking the ships and tipped it in commando. Never had that happen before but was worried about efficiency so thats why I tipped the hops in. Smells good now though. Looking forward to this one for my second ever kegging Cheers Edited May 5, 2021 by RDT2
