kmar92
Beer Cartel Advent Calendar - 12 December. Ballistic Beer Co. - Mele Kalikimaka - Double Hawaiian Haze. Very hazy in the glass, tropical fruit on the nose. I get mango and pineapple tastes and quite a smooth beer, probably the mouthfeel is from the oats. 8% ABV but no harsh alcohol taste. Enjoyable. 7.5/10.
Shamus O'Sean
Beer Cartel Advent Calendar - 11 December. All Inn Brewing – What’s Up My Grinches Vanilla Milk Stout – 5.5% ABV Yeah, this is a good ‘un. Nice chocolatey aroma. Smooth chocolate and coffee flavour. The sweetness of the vanilla and the lactose, which is a low sweetness sugar that does not ferment, offsets the harsher bite of the other ingredients. 8/10. PS behind the beer is 23L of Blonde Ale on its way to kegs.

I'm so glad I didn't go for one of these advent calenders. I would've been so disappointed finding one sour beer let alone two or three. How is this even beer? It belongs on fish and chips. I'm betting it's a fad that will disappear quickly like neipas. Each to their own. I think the popularity of advent calendars is dying. Their days are numbered!

I'm betting it's a fad that will disappear quickly like neipas. Each to their own. I had a mate working in a craft pub. He kept trying to get me to drink saisons. Each time they got a new one it was, "No, no, this isn't like the other ones, this is good!" I'd taste, use both hands to unpucker my lips and take a swig of drinkable beer to try and apologise to my mouth. After the 3rd time I just said, "Bullshit, give me an IPA." Yes if you were worried about a succession of NEIPA's this 1 certainly isn't. Deep amber colour. I am getting toffee and maybe a little banana. Quite sweet. 8.5% ABV packs a punch. I am not a fan of the style, but with that said this is probably a reasonable barleywine. 6.5/10.
