Burnt taste to finished beer

Hi.

 I have had a couple of batches of beer with a burnt taste to it! I’m using a fermenting barrel and initially thought it was somewhat contaminated but I sterilize throughly! And rinse the hell out of all my equipment, wandering whether anyone has had a similar problem?

I am not sure about the burnt taste.  I have not had that, unless I have overdone the Roasted Malt addition.

Your process might be part of the issue.  You sterilise and then rinse.  A lot of brewers use no-rinse sanitisers.  Maybe that might make a difference.
