ScottyMac
I have a Kolsch in my fermenter at the moment. SG has given me the same reading over the last couple days, but I notice that the airlock is still occasionally bubbling. Should I leave it for a while longer or just go ahead and bottle it? Hairy
How does the gravity reading compare to your expected FG? Ignore the airlock.
Lab Cat
Maybe leave it for another gravity check tomorrow. Airlocks lie. I'm glad I never used one starting out, it would have confused me. Hydrometers are you only truth.
ScottyMac
FG is about where I would have expected it to be. I don't have an airlock on the larger fermenter, it's the Coopers 30l one. But this smaller one has one of the bubbler locks on it. Hydrometer is telling me that all's good. So one more day won't hurt. I'll read it again tomorrow and bottle it then if I get the same reading. Cheers guys.
Marty_G
It can bubble for loads of things. Airlocks are not reliable indicator of fermentation. If the SG is stable and close to expected FG it is done. Bottle it!
