Secondary Fermentation Temperature?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Evening All,

I've just bottled my first ever batch of home brew using the Coopers Starter Kit (Lager). I kept the first fermentation temperature at 21 degrees centigrade. What is the ideal temperature for the two week bottle fermentation period for lager - and also Pale Ale which will be my next experiment?

18C or above for a couple of weeks. Same for all beer styles.

About the same mate. If the bottles get too cold, they don't carbonate properly, or at all. 18 or above is the general recommendation.

Coopers say two weeks: from experience I taste mine at four weeks.

Ironically their kit brew is a lager, brewed as an Ale... 🧐
