ozlizard
I have some left over ingredients so I thought I should chuck them together and see what happens! I Have: 650g American Ale Malt 850g Crystal medium 100g Cascade 50g Hersbrucker Coopers Pale Ale can yeast x2 To this I was going to add 1.7 Coopers tin (what type?) 500g Coopers malt (what type?) 200g Coconut sugar 20lt BIAB So I am guessing this would be a dark beer. I did punch the ingredients into Brewers Friend and the ABV is about 5.29% and efficiency is 75%. I have no idea what style this beer could be hence the question marks over the Coopers tin and dry malt, or are there better options? I may be able to get other yeast if required. Any help and advice would be much appreciated as I am out of my depth here!
Greenyinthewestofsydney
I dont think there is a style that would have 850gm of medium crystal in it mate. I wouldnt put more than 2 or 300gm of medium crystal in a beer unless its a porter and even then i wouldnt go more than 400.
ozlizard
I did wonder about that. A porter sounds good though, I'll look up some recipes.
ozlizard
Having trouble getting brewing supplies where I am so I saw a video for a 5lt brew, nice and simple that used 760g of malt. I only have 650g so what would happen if I added about 100g of the medium crystal to make up the difference? Too dark, too bitter? I have no clue!
