I’m guessing I’ll need to replace a bunch of equipment that touched it

Sodium Percarbonate (Oxy from Aldi) to clean.  I would hit the fermenter with a bleach treatment.  If a Coopers capful of bleach is the right treatment rate for a 750ml bottle, you are looking at half a cup of bleach to 25L of water in the fermenter.  I leave it overnight, then rinse well the next day.  Leave to dry.  Sanitise.  Good to go.

Ok KR, we are a wake up to you.  Your'e not trying to brew a beer or stout, your're trying to create a cure for COVI19 and patent it.

Boil or replace your tap.

Yes agree.  If its a Coopers tap which is looks like it will be, also carefully remove the two 'O' rings on the tap when cleaning as they will get stained and gunk maybe underneath.  Particularly the inner facing one.  Once sanitised re-fit "O" rings and then should be ok.

Cheers - AL

The tap really is the weak link in the Cooper's DIY system.

I find it one of the better taps out of the fermenter taps.

It pulls completely apart so you can get in and sanitize properly and the o-rings are easily removable/replaceable.

I agree I think they are great fermenters.  Like the legs as well acting as a well for the trub to settle into.

My taps cant be dismantled but the go through the dishwasher twice. 1 valve open and 2 valve closed. Not had an issue. Biggest problem i the threads of the fv. They are a bastard to clean.

Gotta love a prick of a thread. I’m forever replacing my taps because the threads stretch and I end up having a tap facing side ways because the softness if the plastic

I’ve learnt to have more than one spare tap on hand with the Coopers ones

Agreed, I always have one spare with o-rings on it ready to go just incase.

Another reason I love the Coopers fermenters - no threads so easy to clean out.

My Coopers FV has a tap that turns - all I see on the Coopers site is 'snap taps' which look like you have to hold them open. That would be a right PITA when bottling.

1. Am I correct about the 'snap taps'?

2. Are they worth having over the turn taps?

3. Where can you get the turn taps?

1. Yes the "snap" tap is Coopers new tap that replaced the old one.

2. Yes.

3. No idea - I don't think they make them anymore.

The snap tap does not need to be held open. It clicks into an open position and stays there.
