Marty_G
oh my goodness, talk us through this. Very rare to have an experienced brewer get a bad outcome. Maybe is a cause for a new YouTube channel.
MitchBastard
That’s literally the worst looking thing I’ve ever seen. Looks like you threw a plastic bag full of poo in there as a dry hop
Lab Cat
There's a craft brewery somewhere that would can that and call it a Farmhouse Sour. 1

I would hit the fermenter with a bleach treatment. If a Coopers capful of bleach is the right treatment rate for a 750ml bottle, you are looking at half a cup of bleach to 25L of water in the fermenter. I leave it overnight, then rinse well the next day. Leave to dry. Sanitise. Good to go.

iBooz2
Ok KR, we are a wake up to you. Your'e not trying to brew a beer or stout, your're trying to create a cure for COVI19 and patent it. 4 hours ago, Worthog said: Boil or replace your tap. Yes agree. If its a Coopers tap which is looks like it will be, also carefully remove the two 'O' rings on the tap when cleaning as they will get stained and gunk maybe underneath. Particularly the inner facing one. Once sanitised re-fit "O" rings and then should be ok. Cheers - AL

Prior to that I was having a run of dodgy brews. Edited March 26, 2020 by BlackSands
Thirsty Jim
The tap really is the weak link in the Cooper's DIY system.

I find it one of the better taps out of the fermenter taps. It pulls completely apart so you can get in and sanitize properly and the o-rings are easily removable/replaceable.

A boil may not get inside the seal and the rubber will insulate the possible infection inside from the heat.

That would be a right PITA when bottling. 1. Am I correct about the 'snap taps'? 2. Are they worth having over the turn taps? 3. Where can you get the turn taps? Yes the "snap" tap is Coopers new tap that replaced the old one. 2. Yes. 3. No idea - I don't think they make them anymore. The snap tap does not need to be held open. It clicks into an open position and stays there. Edited March 26, 2020 by MitchellScott
